This is Michael's first studio album in 8 years. He has release three previous studio releases along with a greatest hit's CD, and a recent Christmas project.
As the releases title implies this album is about redemption, and God's grace, love, and forgiveness.
English, like the prodigal son, got off-track taking a side trip down the road of addiction. This release is about his overcoming and growing from it.
The music alternates between contemporary, praise and worship, and light rock. This release though is all about the lyrics. They are filled with hope for the downtrodden along with the unending grace and love that God has for us.
No matter how bad things may get, or seem to be, God's right there beside us waiting for us to let Him back into the driver's seat of our lives.
My two favorite tracks from the CD are:
1. "The Only Thing Good in Me"- You've probably heard this song on the radio already. It's a powerful song that deals with living a life filled with compromises in your faith, and God's grace to overcome them.
2. "A New Day"- probably the most rock-edged song on the release it deals with each day offering the opportunity to start new and put the past behind for the saved and the freedom and cleansing that salvation offers for the unsaved.
There is also a book by the same name that is being released in partnership with the CD that can be purchased separately.
There's never been any question about Michael's talent and with The Prodigal Comes Home he proves that the Bible's prodigal story is still relevant today.
Michael has turned a negative in his life into a positive that I'm sure will help many people that have, or are going through, similar situations.
