Band Information:
Tim Be Told is a 5 piece songwriting powerhouse, whose spiritual and soulful pop-rock sound elicits unavoidable comparisons with Maroon 5 and the Fray. Since meeting at their Church groups, the Charlottesville quintet has won UVA's Battle of the Bands, created a booking frenzy on the college music circuit, played at some major music festivals, and garnered serious music industry interest.
In a short space of time, Tim Be Told has amassed an army of followers, inspired their online fans to donate their Facebook statuses, and has a Top 10 ranking in MySpace's unsigned chart(VA), with over 600,000 plays. This overwhelmingly positive reaction motivated the band to ditch their conventional career paths, and focus all their energy on the power of music. The name Tim Be Told was inspired by the quote Truth Be Told, reflecting the band's spiritual ethos of honesty, hope, redemption, and change. In fact, their relationship with God has been a constant source of inspiration for the group, and akin to bands such as Switchfoot, influences both their musical expression and personal growth.
The new EP, From The Inside, symbolizes their philosophy by providing a raw, heartfelt view of the world. The powerful lead single, "System," explores the complexities of addiction and vice, whereby the track "Wealth and Poverty" questions the disparity between the rich and the poor, and the power of compassion and mercy in reconciling these two worlds. The piano-driven track "Analyze," on the other hand, examines the desire for healing in our souls and the gospel-tinged "Perfect" probes the world of inevitable human imperfection. All songs reflect the band's uncompromising sense of honesty and introspection in the context of a faith-driven worldview.
All songs are written by the ultra talented, vocal giant Tim Ouyang. Tim has been singing and songwriting since childhood and already penned over 50 songs before college. In fact, the majority of the band members are self-taught musicians, who have been instrumental in each other's musical journeys, as well as in the evolution of the overall Tim Be Told sound. Tim Ouyang says: "Music, for me, is the sincerest expression of the human soul. It has the power to heal the heart, and the strength to soothe its anger. Artists and musicians are the diplomats and doctors of our time."
